When Was Tommy Hilfiger Founded?

The Tommy Hilfiger brand was founded back in '85 by a man of the same name. The company's first signature collection debuted the same year, featuring modernised versions of chinos, shirts, and button-down shirts.

In '89, Lawrence Stroll and Joel Horowitz were hired as executives for the brand, with both being former executives for Ralph Lauren. They changed the vision for Tommy Hilfiger and shifted the focus of the brand to create casual sportswear for men.

In 1996, the brand went public and began releasing women’s clothing. By the end of the year, Hilfiger had opened its first-ever store! What a year for the brand. Today, they are still creating premium products and delivering on the commitment to providing premium fashion.
