Consequently, Nike were forced to pay fines on behalf of Jordan, though the payoff was immense.

Today, the Jordan brand is separate from Nike, having been established as a strong independent player in the footwear market. Every sneakerhead can recognise the Jumpman silhouette, the logo depicting the NBA star himself scoring a slam dunk in mid-air.
